Workshop Description

 

The workforce is changing rapidly as baby boomers prepare to retire and a new generation enters the workforce. Added to this, the four generations in the workplace today each have unique work styles and values. This course teaches participants strategies that will help employees from each generation improve communication, and increase motivation.

 

Employee retention and productivity results are a definite outcome when managers and team leaders take into account the breadth of preferences, values, and styles across generations.

Understanding the Generations
 

The characteristics of generations in the workplace will be explored with emphasis on how each generation’s early influences with their families & society have affected their work styles and values. Participants will discover the strengths that each generation brings to the workplace and explore assumptions typically made by those from different generations.


 

Communicating Across Generations
 

Participants will develop improved communication with employees of the different generations by understanding their different points of view and will learn how to modify their communication style to meet the employee’s varying needs.
 


Improving Motivation & Performance
 

Participants will learn about the impact of motivation on performance, with emphasis on how to motivate each generation to achieve peak performance. Various strategies to reward productivity and provide effective feedback will be explored.
 


Strategies to Increase Recruitment & Retention
 

Participants will explore generation-specific strategies for recruitment & retention and will develop a plan to improve recruitment and retention in their own organizations.
